She took singing lessons when 8 years old and began her career at age 15 as a model. In 2013, she segued into singing when 18 as a finalist in the Canadian version of the TV singing competition “La Voix.” Such TV singing contributions have long since replaced the iconic street-corner streetlamp as the venue-of-choice for auditioning emerging musicians. Also in 2013, she sang a duet of the song “Du vent, des mots” on Garou’s eigth studio album “Au milieu de ma vie” that included songs written by Pascal Obispo, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Francis Cabrel and Luc Plamondon. The next year, she traveled to France for a live performance with Garou (a judge on that edition) on the third season of "La Voix: la plus belle voix" to promote the song's release as a separate digital single. Her singing career really began with her contract at Jason Brando's record label "Cult Nation."
The gradual rollout of Cardin’s songs represented a classic case of singer development in the modern era. It accommodated streaming and listening habits with the sequential release of singles and EPs accompanied by concert tours and TV performances, culminating with the post-Covid release of her first full (13-track) studio album “Phoenix” in 2021 followed by “99 Nights” in 2023.
Along the way, she received a number of awards by Canadian and French music associations. In 2016, The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) included her song “Les Èchardes” (“Splinters/Shards”) on the shortlist of songs for its annual francophone "Prix de la chanson." In 2022, she made a “hat trick +,” earning 4 Juno wards for Album, Pop Album, Artist and Single of the Year. In February 2026, she was anointed in Paris as “Female Artist of the Year” by France’s “Les Victoires de la Musique” (French Grammies). She was the first Quebecer to win that award since 2003. She has now taken residence in Paris where she lives with her long-time partner, Aliocha Schneider.
Her first EP album release “Big Boy” in 2016 included a range of musical styles in both French and English and contained the first two songs that we feature below.
